Keeping a painting harmonious will work if the palette is restricted.
Blues, in particular, but also reds, are strong primary colours so harmony can be achieved by using just one blue or red with one yellow.
The drawings and paintings in this exhibition are grouped according to the palette used.
Each grouping has an explanation of the colours used and a sample of the palette paper itself.
Jill Colchester is showing her abstract painting as she explores the colour palette. The figures and coloured frames are all part of her journey, wanting to keep the vitality and dynamism of line in her drawings and transfer that into painting.
